Workplace Coaching FAQs
Is this coaching online or in person?
Coaching can be delivered virtually or in person. We will work with you to design something that fits your operational requirements best
How many sessions do I need to book?
What can I do to prepare my team for coaching?
Communicate with them about what is happening, share what you hope to achieve and why you believe team coaching can help you. Involve them in preparing for the day. We will communicate with you the whole time and help you prepare for the sessions in the best way possible.
Why would I want to book a coaching package?
A coaching package means that you buy a certain number of coaching credits that can be used over an agreed amount of time. How you use those credits is up to you. Maybe you have a manager who needs some support, a team who needs help communicating more effectively or a certain group of people struggling with one of lifes’ challenges such as parenting or menopause. With a coaching package you can flex the hours bought according to the ever changing needs of your people and your organisation. You will have a dedicated coach(es) and a coaching co-ordinator who can help you evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the coaching so that you can ensure you are getting value for money.
Why would I choose coaching over training or mentoring?
Coaching is an effective way to make long-term improvements in the performance of individuals or teams and can be tailored to meet specific goals. It can provide a fresh perspective, new ideas, and greater self awareness and understanding of team dynamics. Coaching supports the development of new skills and practices that lead to process improvement, increased job satisfaction, better communication, improved leadership, more successful teamwork, and a greater understanding of self. Coaching is also beneficial because it focuses on the individual or team in their environment, allowing for a more personal approach to development. It is an ongoing relationship rather than sporadic meetings or sessions, which helps create sustained changes over time. The combination of coaching with other forms of learning can be especially helpful in creating lasting results. Training courses can provide useful information and specific skills, but without the ongoing support of a coach, participants may not be able to fully apply what they have learned in their particular environment. We know from neuroscience that coaching provides an opportunity for deeper learning with accountability that can help ensure that changes are adopted and sustained. This is why all the training that we offer at The Thrive Lab is delivered using a coaching approach.
Mentoring is a valuable tool for connecting individuals with someone who can share their knowledge and experience, and offer feedback to assist professional learning and development. Mentors are generally experts in their fields and provide advice from a distance, whereas coaches partner with individuals up close to help them reach their desired outcomes. Coaches also tend to provide a more holistic approach by focusing on the individual’s overall wellbeing and growth as well as professional development. Ultimately, it depends on what an individual is hoping to achieve from their coaching experience. But if someone wants a comprehensive exploration of their goals and potential, then having a coach might be the better choice.
Coaching fosters a reflective environment in which individuals can take stock of their progress, identify areas for improvement, and set realistic goals for growth. With the support of a coach, individuals can feel empowered to explore their own solutions and be more mindful about their choices.
How much does it cost?
This really depends on what type of coaching session you wish to book and whether you want to book a coaching package where you will receive a discount on booking over a certain number of hours. Team coaching and group coaching sessions are priced according to the number of people in the group, the number of coaches needed to run the group and how many sessions you will need. The best thing is to book a no obligation call so that we can discuss your needs and price accordingly.
We offer discounts to charities and non-profit organisations.
We have other financial pressure in our business at the moment, why should we invest in coaching
You CAN NOT afford to IGNORE the WELLBEING of your people. leaders and teams right now.
People are missing human connection.
Burnout, stress, worry and loneliness are prevalent among employees, with burnout rates amongst remote workers higher than those who are working on-site.
Employees who experience burnout are 63% more likely to take a sick day and are 13% less confident in their performance at work.
Teams are operating in volatile and uncertain times; 45% of people say that team connectedness has declined since Covid-19.
Coaching can help people navigate stress and work life balance, can help teams feel more connected and can help your managers and leaders be more creative, innovative and productive.
How much time will this take?
This depends on what coaching package you book. Coaching sessions can range from 60 minutes to the whole day depending on whether you go for a coaching day or a team coaching session. 1:1 sessions are usually 60-90 minutes long and are delivered over a period of 3-6 months, depending on the individual.
Will my company pay?
We only work with organisations. If you are an individual looking for personal coaching we can absolutely work with you and match you with the right coach for your needs and personality. Please speak to your line manager about funding for your coaching sessions.
What assurances can you give me about your coaches?
All of the coaches we use have been through coach training programmes that have been verified and approved by professional coaching bodies such as the ICF, EMCC or CIPD. They have experience in executive and leadership coaching and maintain professional standards according to the professional body they are accredited with. They are committed to their own personal and professional development and it is a requirement that they undergo regular coaching supervision and continue their learning through ongoing professional development training programmes.
We already have good managers and leaders, why can't I leave this to them?
We are certain you have many capable and excellent leaders in your organisation. However, latest research from the CIPD reveals that many do not feel they have the confidence to talk about wellbeing with their teams and direct reports. Additionally, many are already working incredibly hard and are struggling themselves.
It has been shown that burnout rates are higher where poor management practices do not support the wellbeing of employees. We have the expertise in coaching and wellbeing to help support your leaders and managers to create conversations that are supportive and foster personal growth and development.
We already have internal coaches, why would working with you be different?
Internal coaches have insights and expertise that are invaluable, but they may also have some blind spots from being part of your organisation. An external coach, on the other hand, is typically more objective since they don’t have any pre-existing biases and can provide a different perspective and style of coaching. Internal coaches are often coaching as part of another day job and there can be conflicts in confidentiality, accountability and trust.
At The Thrive Lab coaching is our bread and butter. This is what we do. We can offer a fresh perspective, objective support and accountability. Ultimately we provide a space where trust, psychological safety and personal growth can be achieved.
We can also work alongside your internal coaches to support their development through providing coaching supervision from accredited supervisors and expert psychological support.
